A few Behind the Scenes photos from Honey & Dear’s Same Day Edit

For those of you who don’t know what a Same Day Edit is – you can see some examples here. Dave Biesse recently sent us some photos he snagged of us working away.

Emily Sorlie of Honey & Dear

These photos were taken in 2010. We have since upgraded our cameras to Canon’s C100 Cinema Cameras. Back then, we worked with the Canon 5D Mark II DSLR for our wedding video production masterpieces. The cameras allow us to quickly swap cards on the fly and begin importing the footage directly onto our laptop which allows us to create Same Day Edit Wedding Films.

We decided to try something that some of our wedding filmmaker friends have been doing for a while and that is time-lapse photography built right into your film. It’s amazing how a few photos stitched together can provide a really great effect for the viewer. This was the first time we ever attempted a true time-lapse and I’m so thankful for my good friend Mark Klassen who is the Time Lapse master – I called him with a quick question and thanks to him – the Time Lapse worked perfectly!

Andrew using the Glidecam to get some sweet shots

This couple had a ‘First Look’ which totally removes any stress and makes the rest of the day a blast! These photos were taken on the very top floor of the Royal York. We weren’t actually supposed to be up there because apparently some ‘Sensitive Meetings were taking place with very important people’. In my opinion – this was the best meeting happening on that floor!

Same Day Edit displayed to reception

Fast forward about 8 hours or so to the reception. While one of us stays with the action and films the speeches and dances, the other hides in a back room or in this case up on the balcony to create the Same Day Edit.

We use every minute we possibly can throughout the day to prepare these – but once they are ready – we find a good place in the back to hide and watch with everyone else. The experience is incredible for everyone.

We had the rare opportunity to be able to surprise both Tricia and Kris with this Same Day Edit.

I love the look on Tricia’s face on this one. Our job is to make our couples and their guests happy. We love it when that happens. It really fuels us.

I truly hope that I can work with the two of you one day very very soon.

Kris Madill - Where do I start?! Time flies so quickly on your wedding day, I can attest to that, and its hard to remember everything that happens because you’re engaged with everyone the entire time. Our day was memorable for a couple of reasons, but the surprise same-day edit video you created for us and put on the wall of the church was perhaps the most memorable moment of all (besides kissing my lovely bride!) The pictures speak for themselves…World class cinematography… Andrew and Emily, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all that you did for us.
